Shooting Touch X Let It Fly
Insight

The inaugural Let It Fly Classic represented the perfect intersection of Zaria Court’s mission and the grassroots impact of organizations like Shooting Touch Rwanda. For TORI, the insight was to document the tournament not just as a sporting event, but as a "festival of opportunity." In a venue built for African excellence, our storytelling needed to bridge the gap between the high-level competition on the court and the life-changing health education and scholarship identifying happening on the sidelines.

Idea & Execution

The strategy focused on capturing the "vibe" of a basketball festival—fast-paced, youthful, and community-driven.

  • Cinematic Storytelling: We produced a high-impact highlight video that balanced the intensity of the U16 and U18 games with the cultural energy of performances by local artists like Shemi and Bruce The 1st.
  • Human-Centric Photography: Our photography focused on the faces of the 500+ participants, capturing the pride, focus, and joy of youth being given a world-class stage to showcase their talent.
  • Venue Activation: We utilized the multi-purpose layout of Zaria Court to show how the facility handles large-scale community events, from 3-on-3 matches to vibrant dance performances and DJ sets.
  • Impact Documentation: By highlighting the presence of non-profits like Our Past Initiative and STR, we ensured the visual narrative emphasized health education and economic empowerment alongside the sport.
Impact

By documenting the Let It Fly Classic, TORI helped define the social identity of Zaria Court.

  • Community Validation: The content showcased the venue’s capacity to host 500+ youth and 300+ community members, proving it is a functional hub for grassroots empowerment.
  • Talent Visibility: Our visuals provided a professional platform for young athletes, supporting the program’s goal of identifying talent for scholarships and career opportunities.
  • Legacy of Engagement: The project archived a landmark moment for Rwandan basketball, reinforcing the partnership between international non-profits and local infrastructure to drive long-term social change.
